Galvanized Coils
Galvanized iron has an added layer of zinc to it. When iron is galvanized, it’s submerged in a bath of liquid zinc. The zinc is heated so that it changes from a solid state to a liquid state. The iron is then dipped into the bath of molten zinc, after which it’s allowed to cool. Once the zinc cools, it hardens to form a protective shell over the surface of the iron.
Galvannealed Coils
Galvannealed or galvanneal (galvannealed steel) is the result from the processes of galvanizing followed by annealing of sheet steel.
Galvannealed steel is a matte uniform grey color, which can be easily painted. In comparison to galvanized steel the coating is harder, and more brittle.
Galvalume Coils
Galvalume is a coating consisting of zinc, aluminum and silicon that is used to protect a metal (primarily steel) from oxidation. It is similar to galvanizing in that it is a sacrificial metal coating which protects the base metal.
Galfan Coils
Galfan (ZA) is a zinc-aluminium alloy coating that provides excellent corrosion protection and forming properties compared to traditional zinc coating. Galfan coating is produced both-sided in a continuous hot-dip coating process. Galfan coating can be recognized by its bright metallic and mildly cellular-patterned surface. The eutectic composition of 95% Zn and 5% Al improves the coating adhesion and enables a lamellar coating structure in micro-scale, which makes it a ductile and well-suited coating for deep drawing. Galfan provides clearly enhanced formability compared with the traditional zinc coating.
Aluminised Coils
Aluminised Steel Sheet can be processed in a variety of methods, but it is essentially cold rolled steel coated or hot ‘dipped’ in aluminium. The aluminium infuses into the steel producing a multiple-layered sheet. A secondary and controlling ingredient, silicon, is added to the dip bath to ensure the aluminium layer is as thin as possible. This hot dipping stage is followed by air drying.
One of the primary purposes is to produce a sheet that has combined aluminium and steel properties. This hot dipped overlay or finish provides the steel added anti-corrosive protection. Although its strength is superior to ordinary steel sheet, its finish is silky smooth to touch with shiny characteristics.
